Hold The Press. . . . . literally

Body confidence is short in demand in this day and age.  Young girls are growing up wanting to have that amazing body and women are going under the knife and other extremes to create that illusion.  Once I saw this post on IG I had to think twice.  I believe Kim K is an amazing marketing tool and because she promotes something it will most likely sell. She has a great body.  But she is not an idol, I don’t care how you got somewhere but it does matter how you maintain your position.  She continously “sells”  her body to keep her status because that is all she has.  I don’t mind but when I see her name attached to something that she doesn’t represent, it irritates me.  In my opinion, I don’t believe she has self – belief, she doesn’t use her power to help girls/women find their own confidence, to find themselves.  Honestly, she seems to not have it herself, she is a puppet in the entertainment industry. She complains about her body constantly on KUWTK, so why are you trying to promote body confidence?  Her “style” is initiated by Kanye.  She didn’t dress like that before. Use Zoe Saldana, Khloe/Kourtney  K, Beyoncé, Fergie, Miley Cyrus. . . . . These women constantly express how society warps our mind with what we should look like but they also express this is how they look and there is nothing wrong with that.  Confidence and Empowerment goes hand in hand and I don’t believe Kim K should promote something she clearly states she doesn’t have.  My friend is always promoting Lauren Hill,  Aaliyah because they were always enforcing the improvement of self. But now we have to filter our minds to ensure we don’t fall prey to such idiocracies.

*this is not to knock any one down but simply my thoughts on an issue that I constantly see.  To each it’s own.

Third look into Fall

As I wake up this morning I find myself slipping more and more under the covers, I need warmth and immediately, hunny. Knowing I got stuff to do, I take my shower decided to wear some deep green jeggings, a black and white splattered URBN tank (alcohol, caffeine, nicotine), a black crochet cardigan, and some black suede booties. Off to my meeting I go. I don’t believe I can detect weather to save my life. I’m walking to the lobby thinking I’m cute get to the double doors and I walk outside in the Pittsburgh air and rushed back inside. Lord, was it cold!!!!! and not just cold but windy cold. I was like uh uh , we don’t do that boo! But see I had too because all my Sweater Weather clothes are still in NY. So I brace myself and walked like someone was chasing me, but in a cute way. And as I’m walking I began to reminisce about my warm clothes and how warm they kept me and the warmth my blanket was going to offer me when I went back to my dorm. Now, I think I should clear something up. I hate SUMMER!!! and LOVE the FALL/WINTER!! I like the cold air and hot chocolate, I’m so excited. I just don’t like being ill prepared for it. Last year it wasn’t this cold around this time, I don’t believe, don’t quote me on that. So for some reason my brain isn’t catching up to the fact that it’s literally basically fall. I walked past like 73 trees and I guess my brain acted like it didn’t comprehend that leaves were falling off the trees. Now, I’m at the stage of making a checklist of my fall must-need,must-haves, and wants. Because see, those all three totally different things hunny. Once the snow starts, and how it feels today that may be pretty soon, my Hunter babies can get through anything plus their extra fashionable, they add that structured feel to any look (in my wardrobe). haha

I Found My Life!!

I was having a boring OFF day, yup thats right- no work, done with classes for the quarter ( I passed them all, whoop whoop!!). So I decided to do my hair, clean, my roommate made chicken ( Thank God for culinary majors), and a few peeps dropped by. So we eatin, chillin watching Sex and the City (mind you it’s two guys and my roommate- awks much, but I didn’t care. You can’t turn down SJP!) I’m in my feelings (hence the post above) and I decided to hop on and see what the other half of the world is talking about. Now as I was scrolling through my feed, I saw this amazing runway look and thought “that is so me!” haha. I found my life and got out my feelings hunny (Tamar voice) The pixel print, something we will see a lot soon. I believe the skirt is what caught my eye the most. I love the crochet look and the flow is a plus. I think I’m gonna have to make a duplicate (*cue evil laugh). And as we all know I love a dramatic hat. This look is a must have for fall, especially for me. They did an amazing job with this look; the entire collection.

URBN

In 1970, four students were shot and killed at Kent State Uni. Recently Urban Outfitters designed a sweatshirt with the colleges logo and what looks to be splattered blood. Kent State isn’t too happy about that.

“We take great offense to a company using our pain for their publicity and profit,” the Ohio university said in a statement online. “This item is beyond poor taste and trivializes a loss of life that still hurts the Kent State community today.”

I understand the thinking behind this shazaam and after knowing the history behind Kent State I would still buy this sweatshirt. Not to be rebellious but simply because I like it. Urban is a very “free” brand. I believe their clothes are quality and if I get a hole in a shirt I’m not going to freak out because when you wear the brand, it’s okay to get dirty and full of holes then wash it and wear it again. Even though Urban doesn’t focus on the hippie/boho look as much as Free People & Anthropology does you still get a small feeling of that. The shirt was selling online for $129 in the vintage collection.

The company said on Twitter today that there was no blood on the shirt, and the stains and holes were a result of discoloration and “natural wear and fray.”

I have been in love with the face of Luke Evans since Clash of the Titans and every movie he has played in after that. For the most part is a good actor but when you can become that part and take that character to anew heights, you become a great actor.  He is just gorgeous when he is authoritative!! Moving on. . .. . . . I have seen the 1992 Dracula and Gary Oldman played that part, very debonair. So I’m excited to see what Evans can do, if he is going to become the character, if not, I might lose the love for his face. But we shall see October 10th, I think. Haha

Dia De Los Muertos

Day of the Dead  is a Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a bank holiday. The celebration takes place on October 31, November 1 and November 2, in connection with the triduum of All Hallows Eve, Hallowmas, and All Souls’ Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.

Inspiration for my halloween costume. I enjoy halloween, personally, for the festivities. It’s exciting to be something else and be surrounded by people who also just wants to enjoy the party. I believe this year I chose this particular theme because I lost both my grandmothers within months of each other and lately I’ve just been finding myself reminiscing. Now, I’m not gonna go make an alter and praise them, but more remember their spirit and how they affected my life.

OOTD

I WOKE UP in a rush mood( throw something on and go).  So today I wore a similar outfit and I wanted to share the black. haha (corny). Everything in this look is so simple, black biker boots, oversized sweater; they’re all staple items that we have in our closets. To me, what makes the outfit stand out is the layers ( depending on the temp, I would throw an oversized cardigan over top) and the statement necklace.

Good (almost) Afternoon to all. As I was scrolling through Instagram like it’s the daily newspaper, I came across this handsome fella and though I should share him with the world.

THOUGHTS: Would you date a guy who doesn’t have style? Meaning he doesn’t take attention to his looks. To me that is a relationship breaker, in a sense. When I look good I feel good and I’m not going anywhere with someone who doesn’t equal my appearance. Don’t get me wrong, I have my sweat pants, hair tied days but I still look good (ratchet voice) haha. I just appreciate a guy who has style, it’s basically the first thing I look at.
