Hold The Press. . . . . literally

Body confidence is short in demand in this day and age.  Young girls are growing up wanting to have that amazing body and women are going under the knife and other extremes to create that illusion.  Once I saw this post on IG I had to think twice.  I believe Kim K is an amazing marketing tool and because she promotes something it will most likely sell. She has a great body.  But she is not an idol, I don’t care how you got somewhere but it does matter how you maintain your position.  She continously “sells”  her body to keep her status because that is all she has.  I don’t mind but when I see her name attached to something that she doesn’t represent, it irritates me.  In my opinion, I don’t believe she has self – belief, she doesn’t use her power to help girls/women find their own confidence, to find themselves.  Honestly, she seems to not have it herself, she is a puppet in the entertainment industry. She complains about her body constantly on KUWTK, so why are you trying to promote body confidence?  Her “style” is initiated by Kanye.  She didn’t dress like that before. Use Zoe Saldana, Khloe/Kourtney  K, Beyoncé, Fergie, Miley Cyrus. . . . . These women constantly express how society warps our mind with what we should look like but they also express this is how they look and there is nothing wrong with that.  Confidence and Empowerment goes hand in hand and I don’t believe Kim K should promote something she clearly states she doesn’t have.  My friend is always promoting Lauren Hill,  Aaliyah because they were always enforcing the improvement of self. But now we have to filter our minds to ensure we don’t fall prey to such idiocracies.

*this is not to knock any one down but simply my thoughts on an issue that I constantly see.  To each it’s own.

The Real(ness)

So as I am sitting, anxiously, trying to finish my 600 word essay ( I know- not that difficult). I began to side track, answering text messages, checking Instagram. . . when I’m scrolling through my group message (with my 3 besties-yes I still use that word) and I see something about Chris Brown + The Real. Now I love The Real and think it’s a good show, despite it’s sometimes bland moments. And I support Chris Brown as an artist, he is very talented. So, I go to Google !! (don’t we all) and I see multiple post about this and decided to read them all. Hello, Procrastinator! Tamar, Adrienne, and Mai had a lot of words to say about Chris Brown and Kaurreche’s relationship. The topic that they were on, Chris’ relationship fit the details. Playing DEVILS ADVOCATE: With that being said I don’t believe it was respectful for them to do that. They are celebrities and celebrities will always get bashed but if KeKe Palmer had a “Gold Diggers” segment on her show and mentioned Vince and Tamars relationship she would throw a lot of shade because she would be offended. Eventhough Tamar would try to shrug it off in her Nice/Nasty way, she would be offended. Saying that, I understand where Chris Brown is coming from and he felt the need to say something back. The way he said it was just a disrespectful as what they said but that is his opinion, his instagram, his career. One thing that I have learned is that publicity is good, good or bad and honestly The Real is a good show but is it really getting as high ratings as expected? Prob not!! So to bash Chris Brown gives them that, it goes with their show and for Chris Brown to lash out about it shows how “bad of a person” he is. So either way The Real wins. On the topic overall, I don’t think Brown is bad for Kaurreche, he has his moments and he did leave her once for Rihanna but I believe overall they are good for each other. He seems happy with her and she seems happy with him, no extraness included. “What would Beyonce do?” No comment!!

College or Experience??

Being in the fashion industry has its ups and downs (if you can’t handles The Devil Wears Prada, you shouldn’t be in it) Everyday something similar happens, it’s not a fluke and it doesn’t at all slow down. Just as models are in competition of one another, it’s just the same behind the scenes. Women and men are always scratching at the tippy top of the pyramid and when you get there you have to kick everyone else down to stay. It seems surreal but this is experience that I am typing. So about getting to the top. . . . .now a days some people believe that experience trumps text book knowledge. I see how that is relevant, when you are working you want someone who knows what they are doing, who understands it because they’ve done it. But I do believe text book knowledge is just as important. You need those discussions in class, the wisdom that teachers can you, and text book knowledge. It’s an opinion and people will disagree. But my generation is spending so much money on college and working minimum wage jobs because they have no experience. They spend all their time focusing on getting out of college early and forgetting that you now need more than a degree. I recently did an interview and the interviewer told me she has been at the same job for the past three years and she left school because it was too expensive and she was content with where she was. Thats fine and dandy too but understand where you want to go, if you don’t know you will waste your time in this industry. Some people will say you need schooling others will say intern more and you will get entangled doing so much and years will have gone by before you realize you haven’t benefitted at all. In my opinion, go to school and work within your industry or at least intern, having prior experience on your resumé to go along with your degree is a must now.

So as we have about a month left until the series finale. . .  I cry inside.  The first seven episodes have been drama filled, obviously. I’m ready for Juice to spill the juice,Gemma needs to DIE!  & Niro needs to get with Wendy, I see it coming. Others may not but we can see and HEAR(cause he always saying it) how tired he is of the “thug” life. Hehe. I like how the end is starting but I really feel as if Jax’s character is just gone *poof* went out the window. And I get it, his wife was murdered he found her mutilated body and cried over it but I miss that passionate Jax (R. I. P). So when is Unser going to realize he should’ve been left?? In truth, I’m glad they’re ending the show, there is nothing else to write about.  But I’m more than excited for these upcoming weeks because there are a lot of “club secrets”  i.e. Gemma and her bullshit.  So if you watch the show tell me what you think.

And remember God has bigger dreams for you than you have for yourself.

SCANDAL

Just to let ya’ll know, I am a Scandal freak. I have been a gladiator since Season 2 ( I went back and watched season 1) no body can tell me natta thang, when Scandal is on. Like Olivia Pope is in the ranks with Beyoncé in my book. When Ms. Pope speaks it betta be silent. Ya’ll don’t know. Okay let me get along. So as we all very well know The Limited and Scandal has paired and birthed a collection. So I checked this out cause I want to feel as fierce, hunny, as Liv! So, the line was impressive, it is the style of Olivia Pope. They went for the correct target market, a business woman that wants to look and feel sophisticated, educated and powerful (because we all know thats how Liv feels, especially when she “man-handling” Fitz). They did an amazing job, if I worked in an office I would wear the collection; when I want to exhume “bow-down” when I walk in a room, that collection would be my go-to. OBJECTIONS: The jackets doesn’t have that structured flare that Olivia’s does in the show, know I know everything isn’t going to be the exact same, but I feel nowadays designers want everything to be tight and short not TAILORED. Two totally different things. Tight is, I can see the seam line of your panties; tailored is, it accents your figure. Now back to the jackets. When I found out about this line I’m like “yeah, first thing I’m buying is a coat” because I love the coats she wears but I was disappointed because it didn’t have that structured flare look. But really that’s my only objection. I think it’s amazing, otherwise, and will def be a huge success.

What Comes on Tonight?

When the show first aired my sister had me and my mom glued to the TV when this show was on. I love the characters and the twist(although some are predictable) but when we found out the sin eater was Ichabod’s kid, I was like “oooohhhh, he wasn’t ready”!!! *mind blown*. I was really hoping for some “we more than friends” between the two mains but then I realized that would def take away from the show. I think they should stay as is, if they did hook up it would so ruin the show, but I def need to see Abbie get some type of loving cause Regina and Ichabod getting too much right now hahaha. One dislike though, can somebody please give homegirl a better wig. Like I know its a wig. Somebody call Beyonce stylist and get her a lace front or something, a sew in at least, I know her hair natural but get her a silk press. Just do something to her head cause I can’t take it no more. A good black main character since Olivia Pope(love that women and her weave be on point, except when Fitz mess it up) and her hair looking like that. UNACCEPTABLE boo boo! Fix it Jesus.  So tonight as the sun goes down, the temperature gets colder, and the moon glows bright we will meet the town of Sleepy Hollow again.

Third look into Fall

As I wake up this morning I find myself slipping more and more under the covers, I need warmth and immediately, hunny. Knowing I got stuff to do, I take my shower decided to wear some deep green jeggings, a black and white splattered URBN tank (alcohol, caffeine, nicotine), a black crochet cardigan, and some black suede booties. Off to my meeting I go. I don’t believe I can detect weather to save my life. I’m walking to the lobby thinking I’m cute get to the double doors and I walk outside in the Pittsburgh air and rushed back inside. Lord, was it cold!!!!! and not just cold but windy cold. I was like uh uh , we don’t do that boo! But see I had too because all my Sweater Weather clothes are still in NY. So I brace myself and walked like someone was chasing me, but in a cute way. And as I’m walking I began to reminisce about my warm clothes and how warm they kept me and the warmth my blanket was going to offer me when I went back to my dorm. Now, I think I should clear something up. I hate SUMMER!!! and LOVE the FALL/WINTER!! I like the cold air and hot chocolate, I’m so excited. I just don’t like being ill prepared for it. Last year it wasn’t this cold around this time, I don’t believe, don’t quote me on that. So for some reason my brain isn’t catching up to the fact that it’s literally basically fall. I walked past like 73 trees and I guess my brain acted like it didn’t comprehend that leaves were falling off the trees. Now, I’m at the stage of making a checklist of my fall must-need,must-haves, and wants. Because see, those all three totally different things hunny. Once the snow starts, and how it feels today that may be pretty soon, my Hunter babies can get through anything plus their extra fashionable, they add that structured feel to any look (in my wardrobe). haha
